When applying for federal contracting certifications as a Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) or Economically Disadvantaged Women-Owned Small Business (EDWOSB), the SBA will review several eligibility criteria such as ownership, control, and, if applicable, economic-disadvantage per the Code of Federal Regulation, Title 13, Part 127, Subpart B.

Specifically, when assessing the control of a firm, SBA will look to make sure that a women-owner unconditionally and directly owns, operates, and controls their business. One element of this process will include SBA reviewing the women-owners' resume(s) to make sure they have the highest officer position and relevant experience necessary to run the firm.

Top three tips for resumes:

1. Be sure to list your current title/position and detail duties and experience with the applicant firm.

2. Include in your resume your past work experiences, certifications, or volunteer efforts that contribute to your managerial experience and ability to run your firm.

3. Provide your work history in chronological account (including start and end dates) of your previous and current roles.
